Unborn

A Collection of Poems

Written mostly between 2016 and 2018 and split into ten chapters, Unborn moves from Shona's love of St. Vincent and the Grenadines through mind and spirit, complicated love, moments of inspiration, dreams, and the trials of life.

It is a collection about dreams deferred and then reclaimed. After years away from poetry, Shona regained her voice in 2018 — this was her first solo publication, and the first time the world would see her world in verse.

Before the wing, the wanting.
Before the wanting, the dark —
that patient, ordinary dark
where every becoming begins.

Inspiration

Letters to Girls Who Dream of Flying

A powerful message to girls and women who dare to rise above limitation and believe in the possibility of their own becoming. Written as letters — direct, unhurried, and addressed to the reader by name.

Widely used as a gift for graduations, mentorship programmes and mother-and-daughter reading.
